Raphael Roumain:
South Dade Academy

Real estate professional turned academy director. Bringing premium soccer coaching to underserved communities in Homestead.

Journey

From real estate success to soccer academy director

Raphael Roumain was already building a successful career in South Florida real estate when he discovered We Make Footballers. A University of Florida graduate with a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, he had the perfect foundation for running a community-based sports program — he just hadn't found the right vehicle yet.

Journey

From local passion to professional coaching impact

Raphael and his team deliver structured weekly training sessions focused on the WMF methodology — 500+ ball touches per hour, 1v1 and 2v2 scenarios, and decision-making drills designed to develop players technically rather than just tactically. Every session follows the same curriculum used across the global WMF network.

Impact

Measuring success beyond the numbers

Raphael at WMF South Dade is proving that high-quality soccer coaching belongs in every community — not just the affluent ones.

Discovery and onboarding

Launch

WMF South Dade launches at Homestead Air Reserve Park with weekly sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays. What started as a part-time venture alongside his real estate career quickly becomes a full-time focus, with Raphael setting his sights on multiple territories.

Growth and expansion

The academy introduces holiday soccer camps and begins rolling out low-cost competitive matches for players to apply their training in real game environments. Raphael is building toward the full WMF product ecosystem in South Dade — Foundation League, club teams, and pathways into professional academies.

A day in the life of a soccer coach

Running a We Make Footballers franchise means combining business ownership with time on the field. Here's what a typical Saturday looks like for Raphael.

Business owner in the morning

Raphael starts the day reviewing bookings and trial enquiries in the Parent Area, checking session capacity, and following up with families. He spends time connecting with schools and community organizations across Homestead and Florida City, often switching between English, French, and Creole.

Coach and community leader at the field

By 9:30 AM, Raphael is at Homestead Air Reserve Park welcoming the first group. The 4–7 age group trains from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by the 8–12s from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Sessions follow the WMF syllabus — high-repetition technical drills, 1v1s, and small-sided games with a low coach-to-child ratio.

"From the very beginning, a high level of support has been provided for daily operations and marketing. The business blueprint is clear and ready to be applied. The support received before launch makes it clear that a franchisee is not starting alone — WMF actively helps its franchisees to succeed."
